CASSA: Computing for Autonomous and Secure Satellite Applications

CASSA is a Demonstrator payload computer for satellite platform-independent on-board autonomy and security. The PLC will be developed with the ROKS mission as the main use case and therefore demonstrates the use of the Forwards Looking Imager (FLI) to optimise the optical link with the ground for the Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) payload. Security is considered at every design step to minimise cyber threats for the payload and removing the need to trust the main satellite platform. Furthermore, CASSA will be a testbed for the implementation of the autonomy framework as developed by the company under the autonomy assurance project and for other 3rd party algorithms providing the capabilities to minimise operational costs for nanosatellite missions.
